We are shape-shifters-born from the retail floor and fluent in the languages of both design and commerce. We offer modular, architectural systems designed to enhance, not distract from-product presentation, while meeting the evolving needs of today’s most visually sophisticated retailers and designers.

GREG MELVIN
Before co-founding Smyth & Jones, Greg Melvin spent over three decades shaping the soul of global luxury hospitality. As founder of Archipel, he’s been the secret ingredient behind some of the world’s most revered hotel experiences-from Ritz-Carlton to Aman Resorts-collaborating closely with ownership, architects, and creatives to craft the perfect blend of service, style, and substance.
Greg doesn’t just design spaces-he designs moments. And whether it was through the wildly successful Palanquin Bali (a cult retail destination that set Bali shopping scene ablaze in the early 2000s) or Babalu Miami (a boutique so beloved, even David LaChapelle maxed his credit cards there),
Greg’s magic lies in elevating the everyday into something unforgettable. Now, with Smyth & Jones, Greg brings that same instinct for refinement, wit, and possibility to the world of retail display-designing not just products, but the platforms that make products shine.
He lives between Madrid and Miami, drinks his coffee strong, and believes no great experience was ever made without a little bit of flair and laser clear vision.

PAOLO AMBU
Paolo Ambu is a designer of systems-aesthetic, spatial, and operational. Raised in Europe and shaped by years in fashion retail and interiors, Paolo’s path has always blurred the lines between form and function.
As co-founder of Babalu Miami, he built a cult-followed concept store that felt more like an editorial spread than a shop.
From merchandising and operations to visual identity, Paolo’s fingerprints were on everything-yet never heavy-handed. His approach is rooted in respect: for product, for craft, and for how people move through space. At Smyth & Jones, Paolo’s eye for elegance and instinct for efficiency come together in a new context-modular display design.
His systems are quiet yet confident, adaptable and resolved. They’re designed to be used, reused, and remembered-and above all, to support the vision of the creatives they’re conceived for.
